December 22 – Watercolours of the Norway coast, 1851
James David Forbes (1809-1868) was a Scottish scientist and traveller, Professor of Natural Philosophy at Edinburgh University 1833-1859 and Principal of the United College, St Andrews from 1859 to 1868.
In 1851, Forbes journeyed to Norway and while travelling drew the coastal scenery and glaciers. Within his papers there are a series of watercolours from his trip [ID: ms38081/2/7].
