Already featured in this blog series, The Naturalist’s Library is a series of natural history volumes edited by Sir William Jardine and published between 1833 and 1843 by Edinburgh based printers, William Home Lizars.

This engraving of the white whale, complete with polar bears in the background, is taken from one of the 13 volumes on Mammalia, The natural history of whales (c.1837) by Robert Hamilton [ID: s QL4.N2; 6].
